The institutions under the Jyothy Charitable Trust draw their inspiration from the life and vision of Late Dr. B.N.V. Subrahmanya, a distinguished educationist, philanthropist, and social reformer from Bettadapura Village, Periyapatna Taluk, Karnataka.
Driven by an unwavering commitment to education and community development, Dr. Subrahmanya dedicated his life to creating opportunities for generations of learners. His exceptional contributions earned him several prestigious recognitions, including the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award for Excellence in Education and Social Service (1991), the Rajiv Gandhi National Unity Award (1995), the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Award (2011), and the honourary Ph.D. from Tumkur University (2012).
A respected community leader, he also served as the President of the Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahasabha for five consecutive terms, reflecting the trust and admiration he commanded across society.
In recognition of his lifelong service to education and humanity, a prominent circle in Basavanagudi, Bengaluru, has been named Dr. B.N.V. Subrahmanya Circle, serving as a lasting tribute to his enduring legacy.
To carry forward his vision and legacy after his demise, the Dr. B.N.V. Jyothy Memorial Educational Trust was established. Under the inspiring leadership of Shri Rajesh K, Executive Director, the Trust founded and manages Jyothy Institute of Commerce and Management (JICM) and Jyothy Evening College (JEC), continuing Dr. B.N.V.
